THIS POST IS IMPORTANT BUT NOT CREATE

Saludos, gente.

Reunió todos sus ahorros y convenció a varios investors they jointly founded a new publishing company called Valiant , which unfortunately did not go get a few comics on the WWE wrestlers and Nintendo. As agreed, our guy was not the shooter running down his hands so easily, so again he summoned his stash in 1991 and bought the rights to the characters of the now defunct Gold Key editorial. Using them as base created a whole new universe in which highlighted the following heroes:

1. Solar . His original name was Doctor Solar in 1962 and was created by Paul S. Newman (no, not the mascot of Mad magazine), the new version was the work of Jom Shooter and Barry Windsor-Smith. This was a superman but with some touches valiantsesco messianic. In fairness, had more resemblance to Captain Atom, in fact, his nickname is Man of the Atom and was a subject who received powers due to a nuclear accident, but in a way so devastating that eventually destroying all its reality and was transported to our Earth (well, Valiant Earth).

2. Turok . probably the most popular of the publisher Gold Key in the sixties, although it was not created by it, but it bought Western Publishing published it in the fifties and the funny thing is that nobody is sure who created it. It is known that creative artist is Rex Maxon, but several writers and publishers of the time claim to have had the original idea. Anyway, his original name was Turok: Son of Stone and had a brother named Walking, both were Indians who initially had regular Western style adventures, but came to be transported to ancient times, where fighting dinosaurs. Valiant In the version developed by David Michelinie and Bart Sears and called Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, took up the matter of the dinosaurs but now they were super-intelligent, adding other threats such as mercenaries and other hunters.

3. XO Manowar . This was pretty funny, because player appearances to be a kind of Ironman with an armor of alien technology, but in reality was a Hun warrior who centuries earlier had been kidnapped by aliens in question and until that time had not yet returned to Earth thanks to who stole the mentioned armor. It was created by Jim Shooter and Bob Layton partner.

4. Shadowman. A mix of Batman and Dr. Strange because it was the magical adept Valiant universe, but more dynamic and brave plan. Shooter was created by David Lapham and artist and became the best selling title of editorial and even was in the top ten in the industry.

5. Magnus Robot Fighter. His original creator in 1963 was the artist Russ Manning, the new version was developed by the ubiquitous Shooter and cartoonist Art Nichols. The Valiant Universe claimed last long because this series is dearrollaba in 4000 and was on a Terminator-style future, where a central computer robots created to keep watch over humans (although there were also human Proxy to that used robots for their own purposes) and as you can imagine that our hero was in charge of them quarrel with the detail that he was a regular guy and yet he put the fist with the machines.

Besides these, there were several sets of characters encountered side, as Archer & Armstrong (considered a cult series), and HARD Corps Armorines, all intended to give unity to the Valiant universe, because believe it or not all series were intertwined in some way no matter that one out in this and the other in the year 4000. Remember that long ago I said that Jim Shooter was obsessed with real time ? Well, guess not ... The Valiant Universe was in real time! That is, the heroes aged one month for every month of publication, so the different series occurred in different years and thus on the comic book character could see the past or the future of other, and when we had the feeling that everything was connected. And you can be the former editor in chief of Marvel without having learned some tricks, so Shooter topped the construction of its new universe with a megacroosover that gave coherence to the whole, called Unity, where they meet all heroes, and their alternate versions of other times and dimensions, to fight a common threat that is destroying the time and space. And believe it or not, was a bestseller and was the golden age of Valiant Comics, but the drama of Jim Shooter was far from over, as we shall see when we review the year 1992 .

Now back to our regular programming and tell them that in 91 the publisher Dark Horse also began publishing a series that is considered classical Sin City by Frank Miller. It began as a short story published in good Frank Dark Horse Presents, but I saw the great potential and gave him the green light to expand the plot to the chapters and characters to enjoy. The first frame of Sin City The Hard Goodbye was , where a tough subject, called Marv, a good day dawns with a dead prostitute, he ate, but did not kill her and begins his search for the guilty, will take you to the most ugly and twisted a city which in itself is pretty fucking .

Sin City is all that Miller loves : distressing plots, action, beatings and shootings at the least provocation, sexy women, sex and fatal , rappers, ninjas , corruption, drugs, death and all beautiful things of life. In the graphic is undoubtedly the best that Miller has ever produced. Shows its mastery of chiaroscuro and with the advantage (which failed to Daredevil or Batman) that is almost entirely in black and white, only red and yellow elements, so the drawing is star of the show instead of color. The first miniseries Sin City followed by a number, with new characters but mention or appearance of the protagonists of the other sagas lest we forget they are the same city and timeline. I like Sin City but said that is a very dark and violent series is not suitable for all readers. As you may know already had an film version, as mentioned by Diego, and I must say that, strictly speaking it as an adaptation, is perfect because nearly frame by frame recreates the comic, almost since it opened it was talking a second part but to date nothing is clear.

Dark Horse had another decent series mention in 1991, the controversial of Next Men John Byrne . And there is controversy about the plot but because Byrne announced as a masterpiece and, while fans confirm it, the critics tore. But judge for yourself if they would read it or not, is about a group of subjects who had undergone since childhood to a series of experiments to turn them into super soldiers, they believed to be living a normal life but in reality were subject to an automatic virtual reality while their bodies were subjected to transformation ... And they say that Matrix did not copy the comics. Finally escape and begin their struggle to defeat the man who became what they are. Fun fact: the most interesting and funny in the series is that the powers of the Next Men are like an STD, it is transmitted to people with whom they have sex, but not being able to control, often causing damage. 30 numbers appeared in the original series, a prequel and recently a new series.

Also in 1991, Dark Horse acquired the rights to make Star Wars comics , together with the aliens have become the most fanquicia profitable. His first series was Star Wars: Empire, located several years before episode 4 (remember that even then there were episodes 1 to 3) and central actors are the Emperor Palpatine and Vader , recalling several episodes of his past. most interesting thing about Star Wars miniseries published by Dark Horse is that all involve the adoption of the people of Lucas Film, what does it mean that the majority fall into the continuity of the series (so that Casto fans as the Expanded Universe called the ), except some that were first adopted, but after the appearance of Episode One made no sense. Among the big hits from Dark Horse with this franchise is Shadows of the Empire, which chronicles the events between episode 5 and 6, and Dark Empire, located years after the end of episode 6, she narrates the return of Emperor Palpatine, Luke finally ended up falling into the dark side and who is now sitting in front of the son of Han Solo and Leia. As curious, occasionally George Lucas himself acknowledged having made one third trilogy of Star Wars would have been the plot that would follow: the corruption of Luke. Have been so successful among fans of these series that border on the extreme, for example, in a comic killed Chewbacca (with permission from Lucas and all) and the angry readers sent death threat letters to authors, Jojojojo.

aside a Dark Horse, another series of that year but was independent comics From Hell by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell. This comic is about Jack the Ripper and theories about his true identity, but written with an almost sickening literary realism by Moore. This series had a very rough way and it took 5 years in 10 chapters appear that compose it, but today can be achieved in collected. It was award-winning in Eisner Awards plus a good share of international recognition. From Hell also had its film adaptation, which seems to almost comic in name only and it will not surprise anyone to know that Alan Moore hated and asked his followers to miss.

Another very interesting case in the history of Bone comic was created by Jeff Smith in 1991. It is a very rare series that deals with three cartoon cousins get lost in a balloon trip, landing in a realm of magic and sorcery where unwittingly end up as heroes. The three cousins have very different personalities but endearing all, so quickly won the affection of readers and although many may think it's a predictable reading is really fun (I've only read volume and is very addictive), not for nothing is applauded by critics and often exhausted in leaves. During a short time was published by Image, but things should not have to like very much to Jeff Smith as he returned to Edit self. And is that Smith is quite proud and careful with your equipment, to tell them that there was an attempt by the Nickelodeon movie but the author sent them to hell for loving to musical numbers, Jojojojo.

And finally, mention that also in 1991 the magazine made its appearance Wizard, the most famous in the comics criticism. Recently, Wizard was canceled, which is a sad decision but long delayed , as has long been noticed more interested in organizing conventions that review and publish news stories, they could not take new tools and Web site updates and drew no information, only calendars for the next convention. A Wizard must thank the interest and dissemination of the medium, although in all honesty say that there was no impartial publication. They were attributed, for example, the boom of Image Comics who made them more publicity than other companies in exchange for interviews and covers exclusive and more recently, were also promoters of Wolverine, the reporters themselves publicly declared their fans , put out several articles pertaining to why he was the best Marvel character, gave the highest ratings on all miniseries and even declared him the cartoon character largest history in a list that already was flawed because it only referred to as pure comic superheroes gringa ... say the name of the list was "character" and that required to consider Tintin, Goku, the smurfs to Spirou, a Judge Dreed and, why not, even the Family Burron, must see that they have international influence. But hey, is asking the impossible. Wizard stops anyway its sister journals: ToyFare (dedicated to action figures and a very good mini-story in each issue) and Anime Insider with everything about manga and information. Fun fact: Wizard had a casual style and sarcastic, something that not everyone liked, Frank Miller once broke one of their numbers, page by page, claiming that by publications such as comic book readers that were considered idiots .

With that finished for today, next week some Marvel for the Casto not get bored and this Friday the Oscars. Bye.
